Juan Fluxá, a local among hippies, opens his heart to us one Wednesday morning and tells us about his great passion.
What does it produce, how, where and what materials does it use?
He handcrafts typical Ibicenco products in a completely natural way, such as flavored salts, typical liqueurs, chili jam… Everything with absolute respect for the land and what it offers us. Always looking for innovation without losing good customs and developing new products, such as new spices. We can’t wait to try them!
Why did you decide to become a craftsman?
It all started with a small home distillery, the family made Ibizan herbs as a lifelong tradition. Juan founded the family business with a clear philosophy of “made at home,” his passion for the land of Ibiza, native plants, and artisanal work. He seeks approval for the crazy peasant and is always present at all crafts fairs and events where he can support and defend local products from Ibiza. With the aim of transmitting traditional knowledge to foreigners.
What does it mean to be a craftsman? Is it a way of life?
Being a craftsman means respecting a trade, not copying, creating, fulfilling production processes, listening to opinions, not using chemical products, essences or additives… it means having a natural perspective.
What is your view on the importance of craftsmanship today?
The concept of craftsmanship was being lost, in Ibiza it was all so easy that people stopped doing more and more craft work, now it is being recovered and valued. Today, craftsmanship is a great opportunity.
What is Juan Hippy Market for?
In addition to being his first bet on being a vendor, for Juan Fluxà Hippy Market means good energy, emotions, advice… Being in a positive environment, where everyone is happy, content, on vacation or enjoying a walk through the little market, enjoying the authentic essence of Ibiza.
